Udaipur, known as the “City of Lakes,” is a major city and administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in Rajasthan, India. It was the historic capital of the Mewar kingdom in the former Rajputana Agency. Udaipur, also called the ‘White City of Rajasthan,’ is located in southern Rajasthan. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh in 1553. In 2009, a magazine named Udaipur the best city in the world. The city is famous for its lakes, beautiful palaces, mountains, and tiger gardens. Udaipur is also known for its historic forts, palaces, museums, galleries, natural sites, gardens, temples, traditional fairs, festivals, and structures.

The economy of Udaipur is mainly driven by tourism, but minerals, marble processing, chemical manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, and the handicraft industry also play significant roles. Udaipur has some of the best electronics industries, producing a range of quality electronic items. The city is also agriculturally rich, growing various crops that are supplied to different parts of the country.
